Chairman John Zody delivers this the Indiana Democratic Party Weekly Radio Address: “By admitting Indiana’s roads and bridges are “terrible” and “falling behind”, Sen. TRANSCRIPT:
- This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly podcast for the Indiana Democratic Party.
- This week, Republican State Senator Luke Kenley – Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee – echoed the concerns of state media and thousands of Hoosiers about Indiana’s crumbling infrastructure.
- By admitting Indiana’s roads and bridges are “terrible” and “falling behind”, Sen. Kenley’s statements now add a bipartisan call for Governor Pence to put his ideology aside and work to solve critical problems impacting the state’s economy.
- Even as the I-65 Bridge reopens, a closure that led to a direct impact on travel and the state’s economy, Governor Pence has provided nothing more than the “maybe” solutions he gave us last month.
- While Governor Pence said he was open to using Indiana’s $2.1 billion surplus, he only pointed to a short-term fix in 2016 and a long-term solution in 2017.
- Hoosiers, we deserve a better governor than Mike Pence. We must come together and make sure we elect a new governor – one who will unite and improve the lives of all Hoosiers across Indiana – in 2016.
- Until that time comes, Democrats in Indiana will continue to talk about ways in which we can do better for Indiana’s economy, our education system, and for the overall well-being of Hoosiers.
- And finally, the Indiana Democratic Party joined all Americans on Friday in commemorating Patriot Day and honoring our first responders and the nearly 3,000 Americans lost fourteen years ago.
- It is in remembering these brave souls that illustrates the sacrifices made by so many to make sure our country, and our future, are safe.
- Thank you for listening.
