BREAKING: President Obama Calls on Gov. Pence Not To Appoint New Indiana Supreme Court Justice

President Obama released the following statement today calling on Governor Mike Pence not to appoint a new Indiana Supreme Court Justice until after the election:

“Indiana is in the middle of a highly consequential gubernatorial election. Hoosiers should determine their next Supreme Court justice by their votes in November. I believe Indiana will be best served by a justice who holds the Indiana Constitution in the same high regard as Justice Dickson did throughout his distinguished tenure on the Indiana Supreme Court.”

Now, that sounds pretty f*cking stupid doesnt it? It should because it is Senator Dan Coats statement calling for President Obama not to fill Justice Scalia’s seat.

The Governor of Indiana barely chooses who fills the State Supreme Court . . . There is a separate committee of lawyers who scour a list of candidates THEY choose and then whittle down to 3 . . The Gov then gets to choose from one of those three. If the Committee waits, delays, doesn’t make a recommendation, or sends him three liberal Democrats, there’s nothing much Governor Pence can do about it. It is VERY different from Obama & the US Senate. Nice Try . . . cute article, but it belies the facts of the differences between Indiana and SCOTUS.

Actually, sounds pretty reasonable because this is a time when the people can actually have an input and a direct and knowing impact on who sits on the supreme court!
