This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly podcast for the Indiana Democratic Party.

Mike Pence has told the media that he didn’t plan on endorsing any presidential candidate for the GOP nomination. In fact, while he wouldn’t endorse – he has said many times that he would vote for the GOP nominee – even if it’s Donald Trump.

Well, actions speak louder than words. On Wednesday, Mike Pence campaigned with Rafael Cruz in northern Indiana.

Both Pence and Cruz – Ted Cruz’s father – have long-standing anti-LGBT histories, including ideas like RFRA that jolted the state with a $250 million economic panic and placed Indiana’s “Hoosier Hospitality” reputation in jeopardy.

The fact is, Mike Pence would rather run to see national political figures than meet with concerned Hoosiers – like women, LGBT Hoosiers, and Syrian families – who wanted to see leadership from their governor this year.

You would think after Mike Pence put Indiana’s welcoming reputation at risk time and again that he would put his ideology aside for the state’s well-being.

Also this week, his RFRA hangover has spiraled further out of control as Pence’s out-of-touch ideology has not only embarrassed the state, but has also put his re-election chances in jeopardy.

With a new analysis by the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball has the Indiana governor’s race moving from “Likely Republican” to “Leans Republican” – making this organization to do so – rating this race as moving toward Democrats.

Mike Pence’s out-of-touch political agenda — which has embarrassed Hoosiers and damaged the state’s economy – seems to finally be catching up to him.

Hoosiers see through his politics and know that in order to build a better future, they don’t want Mike Pence as their governor.

Hoosiers, We must come together and make sure we elect John Gregg Governor, that we elect Baron Hill to the US Senate – people who will unite and improve the lives of all Hoosiers across Indiana – and we must return Glenda Ritz to the Superintendent’s office in 2016.
Until that time comes, Democrats in Indiana will continue to talk about ways in which we can do better for Indiana’s economy, our infrastructure, our education system, and for the overall well-being of Hoosiers.
