Indiana Democratic Party 7-8-17 Weekly Radio Address Podcast

Chairman John Zody and the Indiana Democratic Party 7-8-17 weekly radio address podcast:

“Instead of sharing bad stories, thousands commented about the positive benefits they have received thanks to the Affordable Care Act – this as the Republican Congress continues to stall on what they consider to be movement “forward” on health care.”

Transcript:

  • This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly podcast for the Indiana Democratic Party

  • Do you like your healthcare? This week, a Facebook post from the Indiana Republican party backfired in major way when they asked for Hoosiers to share their Obamacare “horror” stories.

  • Instead of sharing bad stories, thousands commented about the positive benefits they have received thanks to the Affordable Care Act – this as the Republican Congress continues to stall on what they consider to be movement “forward” on health care.

  • Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell seemed to express doubt this week that there would be a vote on the “mean” bill they’ve been considering that would take away healthcare from more than 22 million people. Maybe it’s time they realize they can’t keep their promise to reorganize 1/6 of the U.S. economy when it involves inflicting the kind of pain their bill does – both on Hoosiers and Americans nationwide.

  • News continued this week about what information states would provide to the Trump Administration after it asked for the personal information of every registered voter in the country. What’s been made clear in this latest debacle is that the goal of the Presidential Commission on Election Integrity is anything but clear: the federal government has intruded by asking for personal information – yet they have announced no plans on what would be done with the information, nor what the true mission of this group is – a group that was created on the accusation made by President Trump that more than 3 million people voted illegally in last year’s election.

  • I hope that you will join our call to ensure that the President’s Commission is transparent about both its mission and how it intends to use information – if it ends up receiving any at all.

  • Finally this week, we hope you will join your local Democratic Party in getting involved ahead of next year’s elections. Throughout the summer, organizations across the state have been working to recruit volunteers and reach out to voters across the state. With all the festivals, parades and county fairs, there are many opportunities to get involved – and to get more people

  • And if you’re already involved with your local party organization – thank you!

  • Please follow the IDP on Facebook and Twitter. Simply search INDems – that’s I-N-D-E-M-S on Facebook and Twitter, and follow us to get the latest news about our candidates and what we’re doing to hold our counterparts at the Statehouse and in Washington accountable.

  • Only together can we fight for fairness, the future and work toward a brighter and better state for Hoosiers of all walks of life to succeed in working and raising a family.

  • Thank you for listening.
