Pence Kicks the Can Down the Road on Fixing Indiana’s Crumbling Infrastructure

INDIANAPOLIS – Drew Anderson, communications director for the Indiana Democratic Party, released the following statement responding to Governor Mike Pence’s town hall at the Indiana State Fair.

“Governor Mike Pence had his opportunity to relieve concerns about Indiana’s crumbling infrastructure, and all he did was kick the can down the road and say a lot of “maybes” during his town hall meeting today. How long will Hoosiers have to wait to see concrete solutions for our D+ -rated infrastructure? Hardworking Hoosiers don’t want to hear these “maybes”, and they can’t afford to wait until 2016 for possible short-term investments or 2017 for a long-term solution – they want solutions for right now. These preventable problems have caused headaches for travelers and disrupted the Hoosier economy. With the I-65 Bridge closure in Lafayette, Indiana is witnessing firsthand what happens when Pence and Statehouse Republicans ignore the problems of today. Instead, Governor Pence will just keep holding Indiana back from its full potential while he focuses his agenda on what best fits his out of touch ideology. Hoosiers want a solid plan now that will offer real solutions to Indiana’s infrastructure problem.”
