Celebrate the Joy of Christmas in the 53rd Annual Circle of Lights
For 53 years, thousands of spectators have gathered Downtown at Monument Circle to see the most spectacular holiday display illuminate. Central Indiana’s most beloved tradition is here again. Circle of Lights® presented by the Contractors of Quality Connection and Electrical Workers of IBEW #481 will take place the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, 2015.
Generations of families are drawn to this beautiful centerpiece each year with 52 garland strands and 4,784 colored lights strung from the top of the Monument to its base. Additionally, the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument will be surrounded with 26 larger-than-life toy soldiers and sailors, along with 26 peppermint sticks.
Entertainers chosen from statewide auditions will share the stage with Sandi Patty, host of the Indianapolis Symphony’s IPL Yuletide Celebration, and her family. And who gets to “flip the switch?” Each year, a lucky child is chosen from the Carson’s Coloring Contest (below) to help Santa illuminate the night.
More than 100,000 people will gather on Monument Circle the Friday after Thanksgiving to celebrate the lighting of 4,784 lights strung from the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Travelocity named the Circle of Lights® one of the top five “must-see Christmas trees” in the nation. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and the lights will come on at approximately 7:50 p.m. Entertainers chosen from statewide auditions will share the stage with Santa and other surprise guests. This holiday celebration will be broadcast live on WTHR from 7 – 8 p.m.
After Circle of Lights, follow the jolly guy and head to Selfies with Santa at Carson’s from 8 – 10 p.m.
