Indiana Democratic Party’s 5-21-16 Weekly Radio Address Podcast
Chairman John Zody and the 5-21-16 Indiana Democratic Party’s weekly radio address: “And not only has Governor Pence’s social agenda driven way future economic opportunities from our state – but his chances at re-election have taken a hit as well, falling to 40%. And by nearly 10 points, Hoosiers believe John Gregg will do more in this state to improve education.”
TRANSCRIPT:
This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly podcast for the Indiana Democratic Party.
Mike Pence and his out-of-touch ideology continue to wreak havoc on his re-election chances as just this week, a new Bellwether Research Poll has the gubernatorial race classified as a tossup.
In a match-up against John Gregg, the poll comes out in a virtual tie.
And not only has Governor Pence’s social agenda driven way future economic opportunities from our state – but his chances at re-election have taken a hit as well, falling to 40%. And by nearly 10 points, Hoosiers believe John Gregg will do more in this state to improve education.
Bellwether’s poll comes months after GOVERNING Magazine called the race a “TOSSUP” – citing Pence’s RFRA as having done lasting damage to his campaign.
Needless to say, RFRA was just the beginning and his term as governor is spiraling downward.
Hoosiers are dissatisfied now more than ever and Mike Pence is just not getting the job done as Indiana’s governor.
Turning to our U.S. Senate race and congressional races, Congressman Todd Young and Rep. Jackie Walorski have said in the past that they would support the Republican nominee for President.
That’s even if it’s presumptive nominee Donald Trump.
From calling for a ban on Muslims in the United States to saying hateful and sexists things about women, Donald Trump has been running a campaign that’s toxic and could put the nation and its well-being in jeopardy.
So until they publicly denounce their support for Trump, how far will he have to go before Todd Young and Jackie Walorski use some commonsense and condemn this irrational, divisive behavior?
We deserve better, and than this coy silence is not appropriate.
Hoosiers, we must come together and make sure we elect John Gregg Governor, that we elect Baron Hill to the US Senate – people who will unite and improve the lives of all Hoosiers across Indiana – and we must return Glenda Ritz to the Superintendent’s office in 2016.
Until that time comes, Democrats in Indiana will continue to talk about ways in which we can do better for Indiana’s economy, our infrastructure, our education system, and for the overall well-being of Hoosiers.
Thank you for listening.
