TRANSCRIPT:

This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly podcast for the Indiana Democratic Party.

We have heard a number of things this week that have challenged our values and way of life. Though they can be perceived as low blows for Democrats, we are not the Party that runs away at the sight of injustice.

When the highest court in our nation makes a decision that sets back organized labor’s ability to protect workers, we take a stand.

When the Supreme Court decides to uphold policies that prevent innocent people seeking asylum from entering our country, we take a stand.

When our supermajority Statehouse has leaders kicking the can on now six investigations into DCS, we not only take a stand but we take the lead.

Hoosier Democrats lead at every level of government with a moral compass to act in the favor of their constituents. It is our Party’s greatest strength to hold on to the values that make our nation great, and allow us to find ways to make it better for everyone.

While some may feel disheartened by the headlines this week, I take them as a call to action. A reminder that the battles we are up against have stakes higher than ever. Now is not the time to fold under the pressure.

Now is the time to organize, vote, and change hands of leadership in our government, so we can steer our state and country in the right direction.

As you learn more about the candidates in the coming months, pay attention to how they respond to the issues your family cares about. Hold them accountable to the promises they intend to make once in office. And ensure they will make common sense choices at the Statehouse and on Capitol Hill.

Want to help make a difference? Volunteer for a candidate running for the state legislature. Sign up at indems.org/join and we’ll get you plugged in.

Please follow the IDP on Facebook and Twitter. Simply search INDems – that’s I-N-D-E-M-S on Facebook and Twitter, and follow us to get the latest news about our candidates and what we’re doing to hold our counterparts at the Statehouse and in Washington accountable.

Only together can we fight for fairness, a brighter future and better state for Hoosiers of all walks of life to succeed in working and raising a family.

Thank you for listening.
