Chairman John Zody and the Indiana Democratic Party 8-4-18 Weekly Radio Address Podcast
TRANSCRIPT:
This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly podcast for the Indiana Democratic Party.
There are 94 days until Election Day, and pretty soon we will be making a major decision on who we trust to govern our communities. The stakes are even higher this year due to the current administration’s relentless attack on our values and way of life.
Hoosier Democrats have played a critical role in this state. We have stepped up to serve our communities and took our common-sense values to the Statehouse and Washington.
Our history as Democrats and values as Hoosiers are guided by our deep love for family and our values of equality and social justice. It has always been our mission to discover, empower and elect leaders in our communities who have committed to our sharedvalues.
In 2018, this mid-term election draws upon another chance for us to go to the polls and have a say in our government. Our platform was just a document to write our beliefs in black and white. Our volunteers, staff and candidates bring it to life.
When you are talking to your friends and family about the importance of this election, I’d like you to think about our five areas of focus for changing Indiana.
First, we are for livable wages that help Hoosiers get ahead. Our economy should work for everyone.
Second, we know that a quality education begins with universal pre-k to ensure our kids are off to the right start to achieve lifelong success. We must help public education stay strong in Indiana.
Third, we are fighting for affordable health care that doesn’t discriminate against Hoosiers with pre-existing conditions.
Fourth, we are taking a hard look at the vulnerability of our elections and putting leaders in position to make them fairer by putting an end to gerrymandering.
And finally, we are for safer communities that allow every Hoosier to feel protected equally under the law.
Over the upcoming weeks, I will take a deeper dive into these major focus areas. We have a real plan for our state’s future. We are one step closer to making it a reality in November. Let’s change Indiana, together.
