Notre Dame Makes Easy Work of Bowling Green, Move to 4-1 on the Season

After an opening drive that ended in a three-and-out for the Notre Dame offense it appeared that Bowling Green may be able to hang with the ninth ranked Fighting Irish. However, after a quick three-and-out of their own, Ian Book and the Notre Dame offense would respond with a six play 80-yard drivethat would result with 17-yard touchdown catch by Javon McKinley. This would just be the beginning ofwhat would become a long first half for Bowling Green. The Fighting Irish would go on to score fourmore touchdowns taking a commanding 35-0 lead into halftime. Book played one of his finest halves offootball racking up 5 passing touchdowns before the midway break.

The route would continue in the second half as the Irish scored at least a field goal on each of their firstthree second half possessions. Sophomore Phil Jurkovec would take the majority of the snaps for the Irish. Jurkovec finished 5/7 for 79 yards and one touchdown.

The Irish defense also had their way on Saturday as they pitched their first shutout of the season. Bowling Green was forced to punt eight times and only managed to put themselves in position to scoreonce with a 40-yard field goal that would be blocked by Notre Dame.

Next week Notre Dame (4-1) will play host to the USC Trojans (3-2).
