Gregg, Democrats Respond to Pence ISTEP+ Report Manipulation

GREGG REACTS TO ISTEP+ TEST REPORT MANIPULATION

INDIANAPOLIS – In reaction to an Associated Press investigation that found the Pence administration manipulated what was supposed to be an independent report into recent troubles with the state’s new ISTEP+ test, Democratic Candidate for Governor John Gregg issued the following statement:

“When it comes to our kids’ education, Indiana students, parents and teachers deserve the unvarnished truth not more politics, scandals and cover-ups. This latest news is disturbing, disappointing and reminds us that Mike Pence always seems to place his ideology and political agenda ahead of the best interest of the state. The governor has once again failed the leadership test.”

Pence’s Political Agenda Fails? Well, Not if He Manipulates “Independent” Review of ISTEP

INDIANAPOLIS – John Zody, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party, released the following statement after an Associated Press report found the Mike Pence Administration openly and intentionally manipulated what was supposed to be an “independent” review of the ISTEP test.

“This is politics at its worst. Governor Pence knew the state wasn’t ready for the new ISTEP test, which he pushed for to fit his own political agenda. So what does Mike Pence do to cover his tracks? He directs his appointees to manipulate a review that was originally meant to be done independently from the state. Mike Pence is now literally trying to do anything to save his election chances this fall. Hoosiers, our teachers, and our schools, however, are tired of Pence’s out-of-touch ideology crippling our state. Hoosiers need a governor who can work with Glenda Ritz – who foresaw and predicted this problem from the beginning – and help lead education into the future. That person is John Gregg.”
